I shared some of this on Twitter already, but earlier today, Brad Traversy released an updated near 2-hour React JS Crash Course for 2021, last Wednesday Ania Kubow released a free 12-hour coding bootcamp that goes over HTML, CSS & JavaScript and on the same day, freeCodeCamp compiled and released Jessica Chan‘s 5-hour HTML, SCSS & JavaScript landing page project. What a great way to kick off the 2nd half of January!
I’m halfway through that web design course from Flux right now and want to dive into these. I also grabbed a new laptop over the weekend. Its an Acer Aspire A515 with a Ryzen-5 3500U, Radeon Vega card, 8GB of RAM and a 250GB solid state hard drive. Its nothing monstrous, but its still so much faster than my old desktop and the laptop I’ve been using. They’re both older generation Core i5’s.
This morning, I cloned some projects from GitHub that I was working on with the older machines. I was amazed. When I ran ‘npm install’ to install dependencies, they came down and installed in about 3 minutes. With the laptop, the node modules alone used to take close to 7, and with the desktop, setting up any React project took around 20 mins to grab dependencies. It put such a smile on my face. ;)
