For those of you who are new to web development, Gary, from DesignCourse just released a 2.25 hour crash course focusing on HTML & CSS, which is the entry point for frontend web development. There’s a touch of JavaScript at the end. Here’s the description from his YouTube channel:
Today, you’re going to embark on a journey into the world of Frontend Development! In doing so, you’re going to utilize HTML, CSS & a tiny bit of JavaScript to create an actual website layout that works on multiple devices (yes, it’s “Responsive”!). Throughout this course, I assume you have no experience building sites or apps — BUT, this is a *Crash Course*, which means we pack a LOT of content in a relatively short amount of time. The purpose of this course is to get your feet wet and determine if Frontend development might be right for you. You will get to see the full picture of what a Frontend developer does!
The site he builds is responsive, which means that it adjusts to accommodate different screen sizes – typically mobile (smartphone), tablet and widescreen (computer monitor). He’s also a UI/UX designer, by trade, I believe, so his work typically reflects well-thought-out visual design aesthetics and usability.
(Also, although you don’t really see it in this video much, I think the bass on his wall is a Schecter Stiletto Studio-5, which I really love. The neck on those things is so smooth…)
